Description

In January we supported the University of Suffolk's Students' Union with their cost of living campaign.

The University of Suffolk Students’ Union is an independent, non-profit charity, separate from the University of Suffolk, that exists solely to improve the student experience.

As part of their Cost of Living campaign with the University of Suffolk, they are supporting students with a range of initiatives to help them through this difficult time. Many will remember their student days fondly, however probably not as a time of financial prosperity, and more than likely in abundance of tins of 18p baked beans for dinner most nights.

Unfortunately for current students, the sharp increase in the cost of living is having a serious impact on their mental and physical wellbeing, and recent data from NUS suggests 96% of students are cutting back on spending, and almost a third left with just £50 a month after paying rent and bills.

The morning started with introductions from the Do Good attendees and an opportunity to look round the Student Union and hearing about the facilities available for the Students attending the University. Then it was down to the hard work. There was a bookcase to build and help to pack lunch bags that are available free to the students on campus. Packing free sanitary products, making up food parcels and helping to de-clutter the student sports cupboard.

Finally the group helped to prepare rubber ducks for a secret mission later in the year.

Once all the hard work was done there was a chance to have one finally network and of a course a well deserved slice of cake.
